The average annual direct and indirect costs incurred by a person with lupus can exceed $30,000 per year, which is higher per person than those living with rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension or asthma.
Lupus Love Project Emergency Grant Assistance
The Lupus Love Project, an emergency grant program facilitated by the MI Lupus Foundation, helps those impacted by lupus with financial burdens posed by this debilitating chronic disease. Priority is given to members of the MI Lupus Foundation. The emergency grant program is contingent upon ability to show financial need and availability of funds. Grants must be directly related to the treatment of lupus or a lupus-related financial emergency.
Applicants must be a resident of Michigan.
Applicants must have a confirmed lupus diagnosis. A doctor's letter of confirmation stating the patient’s lupus diagnosis must be provided.
Applicants may only be awarded assistance from the MI Lupus Foundation once within a 12-month period with a $400 maximum.
The emergency grant funding is only available for or on behalf of a lupus patient.
Financial assistance will be made directly to the vendor/provider on behalf of the patient.
There is no guarantee that a grant will be awarded, approval is subject to fund availability within the MI Lupus Foundation. Payments can take 5-10 business days to process.
