Americans have a rich
history of supporting charitable organizations. Charitable gifts
can be made at any time - now, later in life, or at death. Some
gifts stretch over an extended period. We at The Michigan / Indiana
Affiliate thank you for the help you give us every year. We provide
education and support, year to year because of your generosity.
We receive many inquires
each month about how you can set up programs to either gift now
or how you can set up your estate plan so Lupus Alliance receives
part of your estate once you are gone. There are many ways you can
help the Michigan / Indiana Affiliate.
1.
Donate using a systematic investment program
right for your checking or savings account. You wont have
to worry about taking a big hit at the end of the year and the Michigan
/ Indiana Affiliate can depend upon income from your generosity.
2.
Donate appreciated stock or real estate.
You will get an income tax write off on the entire value of
the gift and pay no capital gains tax.
3. Donate
to Michigan / Indiana Affiliate by including
us in your will or trust.
You can specify a certain dollar amount or percentage of your estate.
Remembering the Lupus Alliance in your will you can leave a legacy
of support that will
endure by including the us in your estate plans
To make a bequest of cash or other property
to the Lupus Alliance, your will (or supplemental codicil, if you
do not wish to write a new will), should state:
"I give and bequest to the Michigan Lupus
Alliance Inc., a nonprofit corporation under the laws of the state
of Michigan and having its principal office at 26507 Harper Ave.,
St. Clair Shores, MI 48081, the sum of $_________ or ________percent
of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to be used for the
general purposes of the organization."
A bequest to the Lupus Alliance of America is fully deductible for
estate tax purposes.
4.
Donate by naming the Lupus
Alliance
as a beneficiary on you retirement plan or IRA investments.
Its easy to implement and you can designate the entire amount
or just a percentage of your account. Talk to your Human Resources
Department or Financial Professional for the proper forms.
5.
Donate a new or existing life insurance policy.
If you have a policy you no longer need you may be able to deduct
the cash value of that policy on you income taxes. Or the premiums
you pay on a new or existing policy may be tax deductible if structure
properly.
6.Charity Motors. Donate your
used car to Charity Motors for a tax deduction & choose the
Lupus Alliance as the designated charity 313-225-1000
7.Community Charities of Michigan

These are just a few ideas on how you can set up a gifting program.
There are many alternatives that can fit your needs. We do have
a contact to help you evaluate the various options you have. Jeanne
Gonyer is an Associate of AXA Advisors and a member of the Lupus
Alliance. To set up an absolutely no obligation gift planning consultation
you may contact Jeanne directly at (734) 414-8900. Or, if you prefer,
you may call our office at (586) 775-8330 and we will have Jeanne
call you to set up an appointment.
Remember, if you dont
take the time to do your planning the court system will do it for
you after you are gone. You may disinherit a family member or foundation
you wanted to give to. We thank you for your help. We look forward
to serving you until a cure is found.
