Latreese Nicole Fagan succumbed to the complications of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus on May 18, 2001. Latreese was a person of many talents, honors, and achievements. She was comprised of strong faith and driven by inspiration and hard work.

On April 27, 2002, Latreese was posthumously awarded a Bachelors of Science Degree in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

On June 10, 2002, the Latreese Nicole Fagan Memorial Scholarship Funds, Inc. (LNFMSF) was formed by Edgar & Bettye Fagan along with dear friends and family to celebrate Latreese’s spirit. LNFMSF, Inc., is a non profit tax exempt Internal Revenue Code 501 c 3 organization.

The mission of the organization is to increase public awareness to all that are affected by the disease lupus, and provide post-secondary educational assistance to young adults (17 to 25) who have been diagnosed with lupus who desire to pursue a degree or diploma at an accredited college, university, or technical school.

The scholarship will enable Latreese to continue touching the lives of others as they experience the exhilaration of achieving their academic goals.
